Charities of the Year
We are suporting 2 charities this year
Last year we supported WWF, a very worthwhile charity that supports environmental and nature projects across the globe. We worked together to not only raise funds for WWF but also spreading awareness of environmental issues. This year we have chosen two charities to support – one local charity and one environmental and we are really excited to be working with them both.
Dorothy House Hospice Care
Our local community is very important to us and this year we have chosen to support the invaluable work of DOROTHY HOUSE HOSPICE CARE. Every life is precious, and Dorothy House are there for anyone in the community facing a life-limiting illness, creating individual care journeys which start at diagnosis and continue with bereavement support for family, carers and children.
This is such a worthwhile charity and one that is close to the hearts of many of our staff at HW. We are excited to raise funds and awareness and will be arranging events such as cake sales and craft stalls at our HW head office over the coming months. In addition to this we will be taking part in some of the exciting events in the Dorothy House fundraising calendar. These include their Race of the Dragon Day, The Frome Running Festival and Paws in the Park dog walking. One brave member of our team is even going to complete a Sky Dive!
Surfers Against Sewage
Surfers Against Sewage is a grassroots environmental charity that campaigns for a clean and healthy and protected ocean. They fight sewage, plastic pollution, ocean recovery and climate change.
We are passionate about protecting our planet for future generations. We’ve all seen the media coverage of the awful plastic pollution that is affecting our oceans and its marine life, so we were keen to get involved and support this charity.
As well as raising funds, we hope to get involved by joining in with their ‘Million Mile Clean’ events. We’ll be rallying together this year to take part in Beach Cleans, Canal Path Cleans and Park Cleans. We hope to build community spirit and teamwork, whilst enjoying the outdoors and helping nature.
Coming soon – updates and photos of our events and support for these charities.
