There are some excellent suggestions here which will help you reduce the amount of single-use plastic in your life.
We all know how much plastic ends up where it shouldn’t. Some of the Earth’s most fragile ecosystems and wildlife are being damaged almost beyond rescue by single-use plastics.
Here at HW we try to limit single use plastic as much as we can; there are many ways to do this. Everyone can play a part in reducing the damage, and it’s not as hard as you might imagine! We’ll be sharing a few of our plastic-reducing behavioural changes as the month progresses.
In July, why not try a few of these suggestions yourself – even if you already do some of them, set yourself a target to start doing a few more. The difference you’ll make will be significant.
- Saying NO to the top four single use plastics – plastic bags, water bottles, takeaway coffee cups, and plastic straws.
- Investing in some quality reusable products – drinking straws (and cleaning brushes!), water bottles, coffee cups, cloth or net shopping bags.
- Buying ‘experiences’ rather than presents that would end up as landfill.
- Taking it step by step, picking one item at a time and finding a reusable alternative.
At HW, we are committed to using sustainable paper products and consumable items wherever possible.
We work closely with our supply partners to provide a range of sustainable paper products and consumables as well as innovative dispensers to reduce usage. These may include the use of recycled paper products, UK made, plastic free and soluble sachet soap.
It isn’t always easy, but we spend a lot of time searching for the best possible products which meet our environmental ethos.
We’re always keen to hear your suggestions for reducing single-use plastic. Please get in touch with any ideas or innovations you may have to help support our mission by emailing [email protected].
